Elena Bobrova

Elena Bobrova is a journalist and tour guide from St. Petersburg, Russia. After earning a history degree from St. Petersburg State University, she pursued a journalism career at Russia In Your Pocket magazines, followed by Russia Beyond the Headlines. From 2011 to 2015, she was the editor for Russia Beyond’s print supplement for The New York Times and The Washington Post. Today, she works as a copywriter and freelance journalist covering culture and tourism. Her articles have been published by Forbes Travel Guide, Russian Life magazine, St. Petersburg In Your Pocket and The Moscow Times. In 2017 and 2018 she was a fixer for Univision TV crew during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Her first paycheck: “My first job was a promoter when I was 19. I worked in different supermarkets, distributing a new tiramisu-flavored chocolate. Although I was giving it away actively, some chocolate bars were always left. But my fellow students were happy, as we had a permanent desert between history lessons for one month.”
